It's okay to not be okay today. Your heart doesn't have to perform - it's allowed to simply be tired, and still be loved.
“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”
When you feel sad or down
For the days that feel grey and heavy, when even small things take everything you have. You don't have to perform here.
It's okay to not be okay today. Your heart doesn't have to perform - it's allowed to simply be tired, and still be loved.
“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”
“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”
The night is real. So is the morning that comes after it.
“The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.”
Crying out isn't weakness. It's exactly how the Psalms talk to God.
“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; who comforteth us in all our tribulation.”
Comfort isn't rationed. There's enough for this, too.
“And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.”
Sorrow now doesn't cancel joy later.
“The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.”
A refuge is a place to rest while the storm passes - not a place you have to earn.
God, everything feels heavy and I don't have much left. I'm not going to pretend I'm fine. Be near to me, the way you promised to be near the brokenhearted. Give me light for one more day, and people who can help me carry this. Amen.
