When you don't know what to do
For the moments when every path looks unclear. You don't have to see the whole road to take the next step.
You don't have to figure this out alone or all at once. You're allowed to ask for direction instead of forcing an answer.
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”
Guidance is promised, not just hoped for.
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
A lamp lights the next few steps - not the whole journey. That's enough.
“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”
Direction can come even while you're already walking.
“A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.”
Make your plans - and hold them with open hands.
“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.”
Confusion isn't where you're meant to stay.
Lord, I don't know which way to go. Quiet the noise in my head and show me the next right step. Give me peace about the path you want for me, and courage to take it. Amen.
