Even when everything in you wants to give up, that's not the end of the story. Hope is allowed to come back - even slowly.
“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? Hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance.”
When you're in despair
If everything in you wants to give up right now, please stay a little longer. This page is for you.
Even when everything in you wants to give up, that's not the end of the story. Hope is allowed to come back - even slowly.
“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? Hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance.”
“I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.”
Someone else was in a pit this deep, and was lifted out.
“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.”
Cast down is not the same as destroyed.
“For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.”
You don't have to light it yourself.
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.”
Help can come from outside of you. You don't have to produce it.
“And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”
The darkness is real. It still hasn't won.
God, I don't have any hope left of my own. If you're there, hold onto me, because I can't hold on much longer. Send me help today - a person, a word, a reason to stay. Amen.
