You don't have to keep pushing through on empty. There's an invitation here to actually stop, and let yourself be carried for a while.
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
When you're tired or burned out
For the days you're running on empty and still expected to keep going. Rest is not something you have to earn.
You don't have to keep pushing through on empty. There's an invitation here to actually stop, and let yourself be carried for a while.
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
“Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Rest for your soul - not just a night of sleep.
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul.”
Sometimes being made to lie down is the kindest thing.
“And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.”
Rest and presence come together.
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
What you've been pouring out isn't wasted.
“It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.”
Sleep isn't laziness. It's a gift you're allowed to receive.
Lord, I'm worn out. I've been carrying too much for too long. Give me rest that goes deeper than sleep. Show me what I can put down, and carry me where I can't walk on my own. Amen.
