Grief this size deserves space - you don't have to rush it or explain it. What you loved was real, and so is this pain.
“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”
When you lost someone you love
Grief has no schedule and no right way to do it. These words have sat with mourners for centuries.
Grief this size deserves space - you don't have to rush it or explain it. What you loved was real, and so is this pain.
“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”
“Jesus wept.”
Standing at the grave of a friend, Jesus cried. Your tears are not a lack of faith.
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
Through the valley - not left in it.
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
This pain is not the end of the story.
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”
A place prepared - words read at countless goodbyes.
“But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.”
You still grieve. You just don't grieve without hope.
“A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.”
This is a time to mourn. That's allowed.
God, it hurts so much to lose them. Hold me in this sorrow. Thank you for the time we had and the love that was real. Comfort my heart, carry me through the hardest days, and keep the hope of seeing them again alive in me. Amen.
