You don't have to feel brave to trust God. Trust can be as small as saying, "I'm scared, and I'm still bringing this to You."
“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.”
When nothing makes sense
Trust is not pretending everything is fine. It is holding on while it isn't.
You don't have to feel brave to trust God. Trust can be as small as saying, "I'm scared, and I'm still bringing this to You."
“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.”
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
You don't have to understand it all to take the next step.
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
Peace follows where your attention rests.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
When it makes no sense to you, it still makes sense to Him.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
Not that every thing is good - but that nothing is wasted.
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
For when God says "wait".
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”
For when God says "no". Paul asked three times - and was given grace instead.
“Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.”
Trust that holds even when nothing is going right.

Start with honesty instead of answers. Tell God what you don't understand, read a psalm that says it for you (Psalm 13, 42 or 77), and take only the next small step. Trust grows by remembering: write down times God has carried you before.
Waiting is not a no. Keep doing the faithful thing in front of you, and rest where you can. "Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD" (Psalm 27:14).
Paul asked God three times to take away his "thorn in the flesh", and the answer was grace, not removal (2 Corinthians 12:7-9). A no can still come from love - and it is never a no to His presence with you.
Yes. One father told Jesus, "Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief" (Mark 9:24) - and Jesus helped him. Struggling to trust is still turning toward God.
God, I don't understand what is happening, and I'm tired of trying to. I give you what I can't fix. When I'm afraid, help me trust you; when I have to wait, give me strength; and when the answer is no, let your grace be enough for me. Amen.
